Thuto Rantao a rising star
Emerging musician, Thuto Rantao vows she was born for music.
The young diva told Vibe that early last month she had a privilege to showcase her music at Btv, where she gave a sterling performance. Thuto said that she knew she was destined for music, while she was young but chose to wait for the right time to join the industry.
"I took part in My Star 2014/15 competition, and also tried my luck at My African Dream in 2021," she said, noting that she has never looked back since but looks forward to dominating the industry. Coming from the family well known for music in the country, and being a daughter to the legendary Jazz star, Kearoma Rantao, Thuto says she has got all the support and inspiration to keep going.
She is currently not restricted to any genre of music because she is about just good music "I really don’t know the genre of music I’m doing for now because to me anything that sounds great and relevant, I do, but I have currently jumped on the piano semi Afro genre," she said.
She further told Vibe that recently she started working with Chambers Musiq, headed by the legendary Chrispin the drummer. "We already have songs that we are working on for 2023 and featuring one talented upcoming young producer by the name Enton," she said, adding that it is a privilege working with him. "I get to learn a lot, around him, including different languages, and different styles of writing songs," she said.
