Maitisong Theatre is thrilled to be hosting the much anticipated production dubbed, “The Long Way Home Botswana Showcase” today (Wednesday). The production is a shared artistic yield from a six-week long residency, featuring 16 artists from Africa, Asia and Europe.
Botswana is represented by Mmakgosi Kgabi, who is a writer, Actress, Performer, and a Facilitator as well as well as Moratiwa Molema, also a multidisciplinary Artist. According to a press release, Lost+Found is an artist-led hybrid residency & research programme, investigating new ways of collaborating virtually, and engaging audiences across geographical boundaries.
This year, explains the press release, artists have been exploring 'The Long Way Home' under the guidance of a powerful artist director trio from Botswana, Uganda and India: Kat Kai Kol-Kes, Pamela Aobo Enyonu and Diya Naidu. The press release called on the local audience to come in large number, and get a chance to immerse themselves in performances, installations with visual, sound and wordart as well as other surprises: “Lost+Found is produced by EAST in partnership with Freehand Studios, Maitisong Theatre, MeshWorks and Ugly Duck with the support of British Council and Pro Helvetia, the Swiss Arts Council. EAST is supported by Miller-Zillmer Foundation,” explains the press release.
Meanwhile, the cast of Lost+Found also comprises of Ade (Mandela Matur): Poet, Author, spoken word artist, lyricist and expressive arts therapist (South Sudan), Aldir Polymeris: Video artist, performer, theatre maker and an art mediator (Switzerland/Chile), Arya Rothe: Documentary filmmaker (India), Chuma: Artist, Designer, Entrepreneur (Nigeria/Kenya) Gisou Golshani: Multidisciplinary artist (Iran/UK) , Ingabire Gretta: Poet, Actress, Painter (Rwanda), Joy Yaa Kincaid: Multidisciplinary artist (UK) , Justine Wanda: Stand-up comedian, writer, and satirist (Kenya), Mali Bora: Music Composer and Animator (Kenya), Meloe Gennai: Poet and a pluridisciplinary artist (Switzerland), oish: Independent writer, theatre-maker, transmedia artsworker (India), Pretty Lodenyi: Choreographer, dancer and teacher (Kenya) , Salome Egger: Artist, designer and performer (Switzerland) as well as Tristan Siodlak: Multidisciplinary visual artist (Switzerland).
