In a shocking twist of narratives, American comedian, Steve Harvey has revealed that Batswana are not ready for the Real Housewives of ‘Batswana.’

Speaking during a press briefing on Wednesday, Harvey revealed that these shows were called 'scripted' for a reason.

“I don’t know if you understand, these shows are called scripted for a reason. That’s not really their house. It is scripted. I don’t want to do that show here, because you have to put a negative spin to it. I don’t think you want to do that right now,” he explained.

The Real Housewives is an American reality television franchise, which started with The Real Housewives of Orange County. Currently, there are close to 21 international adaptations, including the Real Housewives of Johannesburg, Real Housewives of Cape Town, Real Housewives of Durban, Real Housewives of Dubai, and the Real Housewives of Nigeria.

The franchise takes viewers into ‘the supposed rich lives of affluent women, showing off their glamorous lives, including cars, mansions, as well as expensive holidays.

Viewers also get front row seats of how these women interact with other rich women within that group. And there is always plenty of drama with comparisons of who serves the most expensive Champagne, to who has the most

elegant house. Speaking during the same media engagement, he also revealed that President Mokgweetsi Masisi wanted something to happen this year. He was referring to the Family Feud Botswana show. To achieve this

dream, the only contact that Mothusi had, was in South Africa where they had shot Family Feud before.

Speaking during the event, he explained that they could not shoot the show here because Botswana does not have the proper facilities right now. He also says that it would have cost a lot more money to shoot Family Feud Botswana locally. Giving an example, he says that to shoot a tv show, there are certain equipment needed, as well as ceiling room and space. “You need so much stage room, and there wasn’t just a place prepared enough. And to get something done this year, he explained they needed studio space, hence the move to shoot in South Africa.

“This is a new project for the government, and they have to cross the T’s,” he said. He further explained that they put up their own money to produce the show early. Mothusi also noted that they had identified two places in Botswana that can be converted into a studio. “If we come in here to tape, we will take up the whole space, and you will not have BTV,” he said. He also noted that they have produced the same quality as that seen in American television shows. He also assured that they will shoot in Botswana next year.
