Botswana's biggest street dance spectacle returns next weekend as the Red Bull Dance Your Style Botswana National Final takes over Molapo Crossing Piazza on Saturday, 11 July, promising an afternoon of high-energy entertainment, fierce competition and world-class freestyle dance.
Running from 2pm to 8pm, the national final will see 10 of the country's finest freestyle dancers compete for the coveted championship title and the chance to represent Botswana at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final in Zurich, Switzerland, on 24 October.
After progressing through fiercely contested qualifying rounds, the finalists are Yaya (Yarona Tumelo), Savage Hound (Ditiro Kapeko), Velox (Campbell Kayure), Janice (Lerato Kganguapelo), B-MO (Larona Mmusi), Brutal (Itumeleng Bosula), London (Frank Reid), Mr Tee (Tinashe Mangiroza), Michael (Alvan-Michael Okere) and Ultra Kluch (Prince Tshikare).
The dancers will go head-to-head in a series of one-on-one freestyle battles where musical versatility, creativity and stage presence will be put to the ultimate test.
Unlike conventional dance competitions, Red Bull Dance Your Style places the power of judging entirely in the hands of the audience. Competitors must improvise to unpredictable tracks ranging from hip hop and amapiano to house, Afrobeats and international chart-toppers, making every battle unique and every performance a true test of freestyle ability.
Defending Botswana champion Lebo M says returning to the competition is both an honour and a challenge.
"Winning Red Bull Dance Your Style Botswana last year was a defining moment in my career as a dancer. It showed me that authenticity, confidence and staying true to your own style can take you further than you ever imagined.
I'm honoured to return as defending champion, but I know this year's competition will be tougher than ever. Botswana has incredible dance talent, and I can't wait to share the stage with the next generation while giving everything I've got to defend my title," he said.
Beyond the battles, fans can look forward to a packed entertainment programme featuring live performances by South African hitmakers Zee Nxumalo and Sykes, while celebrated hype man MduTha Party will keep the crowd energized as the event's official MC.
With electrifying dance battles, audience-driven judging and top-tier musical performances, the Red Bull Dance Your Style Botswana National Final is expected to deliver one of the country's standout entertainment events of the year.
