Cash prizes, trips, and more await celebrities

The Glitz Awards 2024 promises exciting prizes, including cash rewards, international trips, and exclusive opportunities, as announced at the media briefing for the 3rd Annual BW Celebs event.

Last year, winners received trophies but did not receive any cash incentives or additional prizes. The media briefing held at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC), was attended by key stakeholders, Clicks Africa, celebrities, and media personnel. The aim of the media briefing was to announce the event’s theme, sponsors, and exciting plans for this year.

Nkgopolang Tlhomelang, the Glitz Awards Project Manager, said during the press briefing, “This year’s winners will not only receive trophies but also cash prizes and trips abroad. We have gone all out to ensure that our winners are celebrated in a way that reflects the importance of their contribution to the creative industry,” he said. Tlhomelang further emphasized that the Glitz awards aim to promote and empower local celebrities, urging the corporate world to recognize and support homegrown talent.

The Glitz Awards, which started a decade ago, were established to fill the gap in recognizing and empowering celebrities across various industries. “We want to package our celebrities to the corporate world, encouraging organizations to realize and appreciate local talent,” Tlhomelang stated. Additionally, he assured that talented content promoters will have a chance to shine on a global stage through winning Glitz awards.

He explained that this year’s theme, 'Mindset change through creatives', is aimed at driving change within the creative industry by empowering and uplifting local talent. In alignment with this, Tlhomelang encouraged celebrities to maintain a polished appearance and called on support of local designers, hairdressers, and makeup artists.

One this year's prizes include an international cooking program set to take place in South Africa. “We have arranged a cooking program in South Africa for some of the lucky winners. This year, we are thinking big, and the Glitz Awards are growing larger every year,” Tlhomelang added.

Executive Chairman of Glitz Awards, Dickson Motse Gothaang, further assured that winners will walk away with more than just trophies. “The aim is to empower nominees. We want them to grow bigger in terms of their talent and the businesses they wish to pursue. This year’s overall winner will receive P25,000 and a one-week trip to South Africa,” said Gothaang.

The Glitz Awards will take place on November 2nd, 2024, at the GICC, with nominees from sectors such as leadership, sports, fashion, and creative industries expected to attend.

"This year’s Glitz awards winners are set to be appreciated not just locally, but on a global scale, with documentaries highlighting their journeys and achievements," concluded Gothaang.
