Showing up without a ticket will be considered trespassing and prosecutable

If you do not hold a ticket for the upcoming, The Desert Bush Walk, stay away from the Jwaneng Rugby Club on July 29th. This is the message that CSI-Concepts FOUNDATION and The Desert Bush Walk Local Organizing Committee-LOC (Team of Volunteers) wants the public to understand.

The message comes on the backdrop of numerous inquiries regarding ticket availability and participation in this year's Desert Bush Walk - Winter 2023, which the organisers have received. In a statement released this week, the organisers reiterated that due to insufficient sponsorship, they were compelled to limit the number of participants to only 3500, and that all tickets for this year's event have been sold out. The statement further says that ticket sales closed on June 15, 2023, and regrettably, they will not be extending the sales period.

“Therefore, we kindly request all individuals who were unable to purchase tickets not to attempt attending the event without a ticket, as that would constitute trespassing, and legal action will be taken against offenders,” reads the statement. According to the organisers, as part of their safety and risk management plan, security will be strengthened at the start and finish points, along the route, and at the water points. Scannable tickets and wrist tags will be used throughout the trail, and they urge all ticket holders to ensure they have their tags before the event, as usual.

They further highlighted that their ticketing partner, Webtickets, would also like to caution non-ticket holders to exercise caution when purchasing tickets from individuals claiming to no longer participate. “The organizers will not accept any responsibility if the tickets are unscannable at the gate or along the trail. If you suspect any issues with your ticket, please contact Webtickets at [email protected] or [email protected] for assistance before July 27, 2023,” reads the statement. They expressed their gratitude to all ticket holders for their support and encouraged those who were unable to purchase tickets this year to ensure they buy early next year to avoid disappointment.
