This weekend will be a special one for the lovers of all things bubbly. The weekend will be highlighted by two very different bubbles events taking place on Saturday and Sunday. The events happen to be the Bubbles in Spring, as well as the annual GIMC Picnic event. On Saturday, bubbly will be treated to a special afternoon at the Bubbles in Spring event. The event is organised by The Wine Culture in collaboration with Stolen Moments and Instinct Media Company.

It will be held at the Pylon Park, Airport Junction Mall. Speaking in an interview, Coordinator of the event, Vince Mosimanewakgang tells this publication that the bubbles event is a celebration of all things beautiful and sparkling. He notes that the day-long event will be a spectacle of world class bubbles, augmented by colourful fashion, delicious food and a captivating selection of Jazz, R&B, Funk and soulful music. He also highlights that the popularization of bubbles has completely transformed the landscape of alcohol consumption.

This, he explains, is because unlike other beverages, bubbly communicates connotations of high culture and global discerning palates. “We want to celebrate the bubbly culture, and bring more exciting features to the Gaborone lifestyle and tourism landscape,” says Mosimanewakgang. He also highlights that the Gaborone entertainment lifestyle market is growing, and that they want to contribute meaningfully to that growth. “Further, people are looking for something different outside the obvious, so the Bubbles in Spring event is essentially playing a part to free that market, as our capital city is in dire need of events like these. Lastly, we want to encourage Batswana to spend money locally rather than to travel outside the country for these kinds of events,” he says. On Sunday, bubbles will once again be flowing at the annual GIMC Picnic event.

The annual extravaganza, brings to the city, the crème de la crème when it comes to the finest fashion, food, and entertainment. With a touch of sophistication, the event returns to one of the first venues where the event was launched almost nine years ago, which happens to be Wagga Gardenex. Forming part of the GIMC culture week, this particular event is held under the theme: Vivid Spring. It will be interesting to see how guests of the GIMC Picnic event who always go all out when it comes to fashion, make-up, and hairstyles, will bring their A Game with this particular theme. Other events that forms part of the GIMC calendar, are Fitness and Aerobics, Jazz, Champagne Picnic, Poetry, Comedy as well as Clap and Tap.

Tickets for this event come with a price tag of P2500 per person, and is inclusive of a bottle of Champagne Brut and delicious food. Other highlights to look forward to as part of the GIMC culture week include a Comedy show pencilled for August 31st at Maitisong. The event will feature the naughty and rib cracking Chester Missing, Tips Shampoo, Boldwin Bals, Tumelo Depay, Johnny Pula and Triccs. Drawing to a close, the festival is none other than the Clap and Tap event slated to take place on September 1st at the Molapo Showcase.
