...Affordable Excellence in the Crossover Segment
OMODA has unveiled a new entry-level version of its popular C5 Crossover in Sub Saharan Africa, the C5 Style, which promises to make this dynamic brand even more accessible to regional motorists. With a competitive price tag of R359,900, this latest model trims the line-up’s starting price by a significant R88,000, offering impressive value without skimping on features.
The C5 joins a plethora of other impressive luxury Chinese cars that have recently flooded the regional market offering consumers affordable luxury. The Omoda C5 offers cutting edge design and frugal engines that will offer value and satisfaction to the local market.
The C5 competes in the competitive compact SUV market aimed at mid career buyers seeking luxury, economy and a spirit of adventure. Thus far, the C5 and other Chinese brands that are coming into the market are aiming to unseat some of the established players and as things stand, Chinese cars like the Omoda are quickly gaining popularity among consumers. The Omoda is taking on compact SUVs like the Toyota Corolla Cross, Ford Territory, Nissan Magnate, Hyundai Creta and Mazda XC5.
From the outside, the C5 Style mirrors the aesthetic of the C5 Tech, including the introduction of a striking Bloodstone Red color option. Despite its entry-level status, the C5 Style is packed with features that belie its price point. Under the hood, the C5 Style is powered by the same robust 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine found in the higher models (excluding the performance-focused C5 GT). This engine delivers 115 kW and 230 Nm of torque to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that also offers manual-shifting capabilities.
The interior of the C5 Style is anything but basic. Standard features include a leather-trimmed steering wheel, front sports seats, a dual 10.25-inch instrument cluster, and touchscreen system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, the model comes equipped with a six-speaker sound system, reversing camera, automatic air conditioning, cruise control, automatic LED headlights, and stylish 17-inch alloy wheels. Safety is a top priority with the C5 Style, which includes ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, tyre-pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors, an electric parking brake, outer-rear ISOfix child-seat anchors, four airbags, and seatbelt reminders for both the driver and front passenger.
“While the C5 range was competitively priced from the start, we believe this well-equipped new Style variant will help us welcome even more customers into the OMODA family,” said Hans Greyling, General Manager of OMODA & JAECOO SA. “We are also offering this entry-level model with an attractive finance deal through our new vehicle-finance alliance partner, Absa. Keep an eye out for more details.” Like the rest of the C5 lineup, the new C5 Style comes with a standard 2-year/30,000 km service plan and an extensive 5-year/150,000 km factory warranty, plus 5 years of Roadside Assist.
The engine is covered by an industry-leading 10-year/1-million km warranty for the first owner. OMODA & JAECOO are experiencing significant growth locally and internationally, with global export sales surpassing 20,000 units in May 2024. This upward trajectory is set to continue as the brand expands into various European Union markets. With the launch of the C5 Style, OMODA continues to deliver on its promise of combining style, performance, and affordability, solidifying its place in the competitive crossover market.
