Welcomes spring and summer with an intimate wine tasting experience

On Thursday evening, Botswana Insurance Fund Management (Bifm) held a very intimate and cozy wine tasting extravaganza. The invited guests discovered that the leader in the asset management space was not all about business, but that they too can throw a very impeccable and fun evening. The evening came at a time when most are now packing away their warm winter clothing and are eager to have a bit of responsible fun, without worrying about the biting and chilly unforgiving cold front of Gaborone.

Held in the company’s premises, there was laughter, fun and some intentional education courtesy of Boikanyo Kgosidintsi, who served as the Wine Connoisseur from Winebydzyne. On the day, clients were treated to an array of meticulously chosen wines from various renowned vineyards, each representing a different facet of the winemaking craft. Guided by an experienced sommelier, attendees had the chance to explore tasting notes, aromas, and the art of wine pairing, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of wine. An extraordinary and very knowledgeable wine connoisseur, Kgosidintsi delivered a sterling performance that many who have attended wine tasting events all across the city have been yearning for.

In fact, Kgosidintsi makes the craft of drinking or tasting wine seem so effortless. Not too strict, and formal, guests got to laugh, and learn all about the etiquette or enjoying their favourite red/ white or even MCM. Even as some broke some rules when it comes to what seems to be these complicated drinks of choice, laughter boomed through the room.

This was indeed what the doctor had ordered for some. After all, a glass of wine a day keeps the doctor away, we hear. To add to the ambience of the evening, each client had their very own cheeseboard that comprised of cheese, biltong, chocolate, strawberries and crackers which went well with the bubbly. Some of the shocking facts that he shared about the craft of tasting wine includes not eating anything that is chilly, not attending a tasting session on a full belly, as well as no make up for women, well that last one, we are yet to determine whether it was just a joke or not. By the end of the event, this evening of sophistication ticked all the boxes, and is something that guests are looking forward to experience in future.

The evening's ambiance was a perfect blend of sophistication and relaxation, allowing clients to connect with fellow professionals in a convivial setting. As glasses clinked and conversations flowed, the event facilitated the forging of new connections and the strengthening of existing ones. "We believe that the relationships we share with our clients are at the heart of our success. This wine-tasting event was a way for us to express our gratitude and to create a memorable experience that goes beyond business transactions," says the Bifm Executive Officer, Clair Mathe-Lisenda. As the wine-tasting event ended, guests departed with more than just a fine selection of wine—they left with a sense of appreciation for a firm that goes the extra mile to create exceptional experiences for its clients. Bifm remains the country’s oldest asset management service provider and began its operations in the country in 1975. The success of this event underlines Bifm’s commitment to nurturing its client relationships and setting new standards for client engagements.
