Miss Teen Universe
The beautiful Kgarebe champi was crowned Miss Teen Universe Botswana 2024/2025, this past weekend at Westwood International School.
She was flanked by Angela Israel and Katlego Mosweu as Miss Teen Universe Botswana 1st Princess and 2nd princess respectively. Champi who hails from Mahalapye was crowned by the previous queen, Palesa Motsewetsho who was privileged to represent Botswana at an international stage, last year November in Colombia where she made it to the Top 12.
The newly crowned queen told this publication that, her wish has been granted as she really wanted this crown. She will be represent Botswana at an international pageant that will take place in Johannesburg this coming November. As it is a norm, she also has a project that she has been focused on as a beauty queen.
This project is about trying to bridge the gap between the physically and mentally able and the disabled in the society. She actually started the project in 2022,working with the Cheshire Foundation of Botswana in Mogoditshane where she donated toys, and clothes to the children there.
The queen shared that she will be using this platform to enlighten people about how to communicate with especially young kids that are physically and mentally challenged in the society. She is also currently starting off her sign language lessons and she will be learning while going to different schools to introduce her project and start relevant conversations. She will also be starting her foundation where teenagers in the community will be coming together to learn effective communication with people that are mentally and physically challenged as well as taking care of those in need in the society.
Organizer of this pageant, Tshepho Tlhapi told Vibe that they are happy to have finally selected their queen and that they are looking forward to the international stage. She highlighted that in as much as a pageant focuses on pageant etiquette being the walk, smile, beauty, confidence and intelligence, they too concentrate on grooming their contestants not to shy away from international standards. She is grateful for the sponsors who made the crowning evening a successful event. This she said include; Aqua Bees Water, Estheva Beauty Spa,StorkFort Health, Westwood Inernational School,and Elite events, just to mention a few.
The pageant also featured individual awards including; Best Interview, Miss Congeniality, Top model, Best Talent and Best National costume, where the queen walked away with two awards of Best Interview and Miss Congeniality. Angela Israel was awarded the Top Model, and Katlego Mosweu won Best National costume and Best Talent awards.
The queen walked away with a few prizes from the sponsors and these included; a return flight ticket to South Africa for the international competition sponsored by StorkFort Health under Dr Mogalakwe. She was also offered a full body massage for her and her parents by Estheva Beauty Spa, Official Photoshoot Gown for International competition by Chosen Designs, and Official evening wear for international competition by Grandeur Glamour. She was also given ‘MTUBW’ branded Laptop with data sim for the year of her reign sponsored Miss Teen Universe Botswana and all her official photoshoot sessions will be captured by Enzo The Photographer, while she will also be dressed by Kasi Wear for her casual wear clothing. Tlhapi said that they are however still open for partnerships and sponsorships for the Miss Teen Universe Botswana trip to SA.
