Orginisers of Botswana Institutional Investors Forum anticipate this year’s event to focus on the influx of pension funds’ investment portfolios returning considerable chunk to the local market.

The 3rd edition is give participants valuable insights into enhancing investment portfolios and contributing to the country’s financial growth. Slated for the 14th to 15th August 2024 in Maun, the event promises to be a landmark gathering for institutional investors. This year, the conference will be held under the theme: ‘Strategic Allocation and Diversification: Strategies for Institutional Investors’ are also going to delve into innovative strategies for the optimal allocation and diversification of institutional investments.

Conference organiser, Michael Ndinisa said this year’s theme is centered on exploring strategies that are not only innovative but crucial for the evolving landscape of institutional investments.

“We are thrilled to host esteemed participants and foster discussions that will drive Botswana’s investment landscape forward," said Ndinisa. Some of the speakers lined-up for the event includes investment principal at Botswana Development Corporation’s (BDC), Katso Gaobakwe who is to cover alternative investments, exploring the growing interest in these options as institutional investors seek to diversify portfolios and enhance returns beyond traditional asset classes like stocks and bonds.

Another key speaker will be Charles Siwawa, Chief Executive Officer of Botswana Chamber of Mines to discuss how mining companies are building more sustainable businesses.

Siwawa, according to Ndinisa will focus on the mining sector's importance to Botswana's growth and how it can ensure economic growth and diversification while addressing climate change and ESG concerns.

Meanwhile the forum has already confirmed the participation of several notable figures in the institutional investment community and from prominent organisations. Over 100 participants are expected at the forum, from speakers, delegates and collaborators, to engage in meaningful discussions, share insights, and forge valuable connections.
