Minister of Trade and Industry, Mmusi Kgafela has appointed Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Gambling Authority effective 10 November 2023.

Kesitilwe has been serving in an acting capacity in the same role since August 2022. According to a statement, he is a distinguished professional who is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), a Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA), and a Global Chartered Management Accountant (CGMA), furthermore he is an astute business executive with over 19 years of experience, including over 11 years at the Executive Management level. His leadership has been instrumental in both large state-owned entities and private companies with a presence in Botswana and the region. Kesitilwe's academic achievements includes a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Strategic Business Management from the Manchester Metropolitan University, as well as the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualification. His commitment to continuous improvement is evident through his participation in various courses such as "Being a Director" with the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa (IoDSA), Corporate Governance – King IV, and the revised Code of the Report on Governance Principles for South Africa (King III).

Kesitilwe has held the following positions in his illustrious career, Chief Financial Officer at Gambling Authority, Group Chief Financial Officer at Boitekanelo Group, Director Corporate Services, Finance Manager and Management Accountant at the Local Enterprise Authority (LEA). Mr. Kesitilwe has also worked for Botswana Savings Bank as an Accountant, and he started his career with African Alliance as a Management Accountant. The Gambling Authority is positioned to promote economic development in Botswana through a sector focused approach that is aligned with the national priorities, policies and strategies. "Kesitilwe’s strategic vision, commitment to excellence, and profound understanding of the gambling industry makes him the suitable candidate to lead the Gambling Authority into its next phase of growth, elevation and development. Under his guidance, we are confident that the Authority will continue to uphold its commitment to regulatory excellence, transparency, and the fostering of a responsible and sustainable gambling environment."said the statement.
