Internet subscriptions declined by 2.4 percent to 2,906,834 from 2,977,845 recorded in the last three months of 2022. Statistics Botswana revealed that this was attributable to mobile internet subscriptions which decreased by 2.7 percent, from 2,844,958 subscriptions in the last quarter of 2022 to 2,768,010 in the first quarter of 2023. However, fixed internet subscriptions rose by 4.5 percent to 138,824. Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the first quarter of2023 realized an increase of 14.1 percent in total internet subscriptions, with both mobile and fixed internet subscriptions registering increases of 13.7 and 24.1 percent respectively.
