Botswana Development Corporation (BDC), the government investment arm is participating at the ongoing Annual Business Botswana Northern Trade Fair in Francistown from the 22nd -25th of May 2024, as both a sponsor and exhibitor.
According to a statement, by the group which is led by Cross Kgosidiile, BDC’s presence at the trade fair underscores the Corporation’s commitment to fostering economic growth and sustainable development within Botswana. In alignment with the trade fair’s theme "Sustainable Innovation: Building a Greener Tomorrow," BDC's participation is also driven by its dedication to promoting sustainable business practices and pioneering solutions that contribute to a greener future.
The Corporation, which has invested in almost all sectors of the economy, has sponsored a business lounge at the trade fair, which will facilitate structured Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings, enabling meaningful interactions between the private sector and prospective partners.
Furtheremore, BDC exhibiting alongside its investee companies—Lobatse Clay Works (LCW), Francistown Academic Hospital (FAH), and Cresta Marakanelo Hotels (Cresta)— with the aim to enhance literacy and brand awareness around its diverse portfolio of investments. “This initiative not only highlights the successful projects/investments that BDC has undertaken but also provides these businesses with a unique platform to engage directly with the public, potential clients, and strategic partners,” said BDC.
Clay bricks and pavers manufacturing company, LCW, is currently undergoing commissioning and is expected to be officially opened in the not so distant future, Botswana Guardian understands. BDC's participation further exemplifies the Corporation’s overarching mission to drive private sector growth and sustainability within Botswana’s economic landscape, with the aim to achieve the country’s Vision 2036 aspirations.
