Track Hawk Super SUV lands in Gabs

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee Track Hawk has just established itself as the most powerful production SUV on the planet. On paper the new Jeep halo model posts some staggering and earth-shattering numbers.

Under the bonnet the rather unassuming midsize SUV pumps out a staggering 707 brake -horse power or 522kw from a 6.2 litre supercharged V8. With the Track Hawk, Jeep has thrown out the rule book for SUV’s and achieved super car figures with their 875 NM beast.

The Track Hawk will embarrass any supercar thrown in front of it in the   drag strip as it achieves 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds before   reaching the maximum speed of 320 km/h.Visually the Track Hawk does not give much away as only a closer look will reveal that the uber SUV is no ordinary Grand Cherokee. The unit recently tested by this publication at Molapo Motors in Gaborone feature an impressive dark blue colour tone, quad exhaust pipe. The muscle  car  share  is  V8 Hemi power plant  with the  equally  impressive  Dodge Demon , which  is  strictly  built  for the US market.

The SUV – which features an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive – runs on 20-inch alloys wrapped in 295/45ZR20 rubber. Braking is taken care of by 400 mm two-piece vented discs (with six-piston callipers painted yellow) up front and 350 mm vented discs with four-piston yellow callipers at the rear. Braked towing capacity, meanwhile, is a claimed 2 905 kg.

Luxury was not compromised in the high-end muscle car which comes with a seven-inch driver information display as well as an 8,4-inch Uconnect touchscreen. The   sumptuous sports leather seats come complete with embroidered “Track hawk.” There is   seat heating (front and rear) and ventilation (front only). Dark Ruby Red seatbelts and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof are also standard.

The Track hawk furthermore boasts an 825-watt Harman Kardin sound system with 19 speakers and a pair of subwoofers. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring (with rear cross path detection), parking sensors (fore and aft) and lane departure warning are furthermore included. The Track Hawk is currently available at Molapo Motors in Gaborone.
