The Venue in Mokolodi is a breath of fresh air

Nestled amongst the suburb of Mmokolodi lies one of the most serene places in this part of the country.

The place is none other than The Venue, a place that offers those who are looking for a different kind of venue with an unspoilt garden and serenity that they cannot find in the capital city, Gaborone. The Venue has been in operation for a few years now.

Trust us when we say that, you walk into Plot Thirteen and you might never wish to leave. Perhaps what sets this tranquil venue from other venues is the fact that the owners are dedicated to giving clients an extraordinary package that is tailor made for their needs. Regardless of one’s budget, they promise to sit down with potential clients and give them something that will ensure that they have a once in a lifetime experience.  Ideal for all types of events from meetings, gatherings, team building exercises as well as retreats, The Venue is also the number one venue for weddings, bridal showers and birthdays, among other events.

On the premises one finds a garden that can be turned into the perfect venue for any dream event, a hall for weddings and indoor activities, as well as chalets that can be used by those who are booking the venue. There is also a pool that can be utilised.

On Thursday morning, the BG Style visited The Venue and left the place feeling refreshed and at peace. Although this was the second time that they walked through the gates of Plot Thirteen, they still marvelled at the uniqueness of this place.

The host and owner, Elsie Alexander tells BG Style that when they bought this piece of land decades ago, it was a free hold plot. She says they always had a dream that one day they will transform it into something that can bring joy to many and serve the needs of many people in surrounding areas in terms of cultural and social events. Five or so years ago, a relative was getting married and wanted the wedding to take place right here. And the rest as they say is history.  “The place is ideal for day weddings in a flexible space,” she says highlighting that their packages are tailor made according to the needs of their clients.  She also notes that they are accommodative of all budgets. “We try to make it special taking into consideration, the fact that weddings are special,” she says.

Besides weddings, they also host boot camps for the youth, as well as accommodate charitable organisations. “We have a special arrangement for Non Governmental Organisations. Our primary focus is to serve the needs of the local communities,” she emphasises.

Governmental Organisations as well as charity, her hope is that this space can be put to good use to change the lives of others, and conceptualise ways that the nation can grow and breed the next batch of responsible leaders.   Alexander explains that in the past, they have hosted events such as inter generational discussions between the youth and the senior members of society. She further stresses that those who wish to book the place should remember that they should respect the space and the set regulations. She notes that they are highly considerate of their neighbours, and that all events run until 2100HRS, with exceptions during the holidays but which is also dependent on the level of noise.
