Songstress Helen Dikobe to sizzle at Chez Nicolas

The Kgankgathi and Mabalane hit maker, Helen Dikobe will perform at Chez Nicholas Lounge on Sunday.

The songstress, who has been on the down low of late, is expected to soothe jazz lovers with her new music at the show dubbed, ‘Helen Encore Unplugged’.
The South Africa based songstress takes her art seriously.

The Mabalane born singer told BG Style that she saw it fit to take her artistic talent to the next level, hence the decision to study Musical Studies, majoring in Jazz, at Central Johannesburg College.
“I wanted to learn more about the professional side of the music industry, something which will help me to grow as an artist and also help me pave the way for international market,” she said.

Dikobe has also studied Music Business and Marketing. The sassy lass has extensive experience in the music industry and has released two albums which received wide airplay and endeared her to music lovers.
Helen Encore Unplugged is an even for Dikobe, aimed at re-introducing the Helen Dikobe brand to Botswana. She will also introduce a new sound. Dikobe has promised attendants that they will get a chance to go down the memory lane listening to a live performance of her past hits such as Kgankgathi, Mabalane and others that she was featured in on like ‘Ke wa go’ by Eugene Jackson. She will also get the show lit by performing some tracks from her upcoming album titled ‘Roots’ that will be released sometime soon, this year.

Dikobe noted that the new album is actually almost finished. “The new album, Roots is done and currently being mastered and I will be launching it sometime soon this year. It is an Afro Contemporary Album recorded and produced in South Africa under Godfrey Seleso’s Production Company called MoeMusic,” she explained. Dikobe reiterated that she sees an investment in music and believes that there are more opportunities to make money and utilise one’s talents in the business industry, beyond just being a performer. Dikobe also encouraged upcoming artists to invest in their music craft.

“If you want to be a great musician, learn more about music and attend vocal lessons. It is also important to learn about branding and marketing so that you can grow your brand,” she said.
