Fat loss is not weight loss

It is everyone’s wish to look good. Some people find this goodness in a glowing skin while others worry a lot about obesity as a result of too much fat.

Director/Beauty Consultant at Shapes ‘n’ Curves, Neeraj Yadav says they have a special session to help one trim unwanted fat in one’s body. Too much fat may even become a health threat to one.

She says a lot of people however still do not understand the difference between fat loss and weight loss. “These terms are often used interchangeably, and it might make sense that if you lose fat, you would lose weight. The fact is that these are two different things,” Yadav explains.

In the weight loss process, there is a reduction of the total body mass due to the mean loss of fluid, body fat or a dipose tissue or lean mass namely; bone mineral, deposits, muscle, tendon and other connective tissues.

On the other hand, losing fat is specifically targeting to reduce the fats in the body, as the fats have a potential to cause lifestyle diseases. Fat loss actually happens as a result of fat burning during exercises.

Yadav explains that losing weight through dieting only allows one to reduce size of their fat cells. She says the fats have a possibility to grow bigger again, which can result in weight gain and an unsightly appearance.

Cool sculpting, fat freezing and Cryolipolyisis are some of the solutions that selectively crystallises or freezes fat cells directly below the surface of the skin also known as subconscious fat. Over the course of weeks or months, the body naturally drains these fat cells from one’s body.

“Since these fat cells are no longer present, they can’t swell at some point down the road, leading to weight gain and a flabbier physique,” she explains. Cryolipolisis is a non-invasive body contouring treatment that is used to reduce fat cell volume by freezing.

She says very often, it becomes it’s hard to lose stubborn fat around the belly, love handles and the thighs, which may contribute to obesity. She admits that eating right and exercising regularly may be ideal to shed off the fats but it might take forever, while an Obesity health risk occurs.

Thus, Cool Sculpting might provide targeted fat loss around thighs, love handles and the belly, according to Yadav.

She adds that it won’t provide much in the way of weight loss. ‘Basically, Cool Sculpting is considered a non-surgical alternative to Lipisuction, and it is aimed at removing diet and exercise-resistant fat that’s causing noticeable bulges in certain areas,” she explains. Lipisuction on the other hand, is a technique in cosmetic surgery for removing excess fat from under the skin by suction.
