ACI Praise sets the bar high
Abundance City International (ACI) Praise Choir which boasts prospects of becoming the best urban contemporary gospel group locally, has already accumulated all the blessings from gospel legends.
Their Friday brand launch - ‘ACI Praise’ - attracted renowned icons like Mmereki Marakakgoro who is better known for his infamous eat-some-mor track, Phempheretlhe Pheto of Lekunutu le Morena, Mpho Nakedi of O kile wa nna motho, Tshepo Lesole, Judah Bosa and Bleskit Isaacs just to mention a few.
The night which was themed ‘Total Dominion Night of Praise’ started on a slow note but manifested to become a night where history was made.
The choir which is distinguished by its ability to transform any song to its own, took the audience by storm as they shifted from subtle gospel songs to Tswana pieces, later altering to house gospel and eventually leading a keyed up audience to reggae gospel.
The night further exploded to the sight of legends performing side by side songs that raised a gospel nation.
After being awarded appreciation trophies, legends could not contain their happiness. For team leader, Prophet Thuso Molefhe the choir draws inspiration from the very artists that raised the gospel generation.
“We all grew up listening to all of these artists and it would be such a shame not to say thank you.
We are here because of their music and the fact that we tend to forget our own stars is disheartening.” In receiving his Legendary Award, Marakakgoro applauded the ACI Praise team and founder, Molefhe for raising a generation that worships and praises in a feat to make the world a better place.
Tshepo Lesole who was beyond thrilled by the breathtaking and uplifting performance highlighted that it is time locals start to take music seriously enough to host internationals.
“ACI Praise is a step ahead and their world can only get better if they keep on praising,” he said. Pheto recognised the choir and handed over his blessings. “ACI Praise is our local product, let’s support it to grow beyond this,” he advised.
Present was also the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Policy specialist on Youth development, Lawrence Ookeditse who applauded the choir saying it is a step in the right direction.
“Youth tend to be engulfed in all kinds of social ills and it gives me hope to see some of them doing something positive with their lives.” He said further alluding to the potential that music with great focus on gospel has the full power to change the status quo.
“As you sing, you win souls, you heal, you encourage, you give hope.” He encouraged ACI Praise to be fearless in their endeavour to become the next best thing. “It is possible and it can be done.”
