White Star boosts local driver for 1000km race

The Toyota 1000 Desert race is around the corner and motosport lovers are expected to descend on the mining Town of Jwaneng once again. The race will see local special vehicle racer, Keith Du Toit getting P80 000 from Bokomo for this year’s competition.

Through their White Star maize meal brand the company has been sponsoring Du Toit since 2009. Speaking this week, Bokomo Chief Executive Officer Werner De Beer said their White Star brand has grown over the years to become a national symbol.

“White star has grown into a national brand and spectators love the car and we are proud of that”, said De Beer. Du Toit failed to complete the race last year due to an accident.

However, the proud sponsors gave an assurance that the racecar will be ready for this year’s competition. Du Toit is said to have competed in South African races and performed very well.

De Beer said his company and the driver developed mutual trust over the years. “He has built his trust with us over the years. He is a great brand ambassador for Bokomo and White Star maize meal”.

“We were hit by another car last year, I am happy to receive this sponsorship and would like to encourage my supporters to come to Jwaneng in numbers”, said the racecar driver. Team Toyota Gazoo dominated last year’s competition with four podium finishes. The 1000 km race will be held in Jwaneng and nearby villages from 23rd of this month.
