TAFIC wrangle with star player

The recently promoted BTC premiership outfit TAFIC are involved in a heated conflict with their talented attacker Tebogo Mathumo. The up and coming player was recently called to the Zebras camp by former headcoach Peter Butler. This week, sources close to Tafic said Mathumo made his intentions clear that he was going to pursue his studies in Gaborone. Sources who prefer anonymity said it did not go down well with some in TAFIC management hence.

“A decision was made to thwart Mathumo’s impending loan to Police XI since he is a student at Boitekanelo College in Gaborone.” Contacted for a comment on the issue, Police XI headcoach Isaiah ‘Sthando’ Mogwadi confirmed interest in Mathumo but was disappointed as the move did materialise. Commenting on the matter this week BDF XI Public Relations officer Jayson Chabota confirmed that the player was invited for trials but he did not immediately impress the technical bench and they decided to approach TAFIC to take the player on loan since he is based in Gaborone.

According to Chabota, TAFIC demanded money in order to release the player. The team parted ways with the player who has since stopped training with them. For his part Tafic spokesperson Warrant Kolola sang a different tune. “Mathumo is absent without leave at Tafic since he has never trained with the team during off season,” he said. “As for the player's intended move to the jungle kings, we are in the dark.” Reached for comment Mathumo said TAFIC knew that he was going for his studies in Gaborone and they made it a point that his move is thwarted. Furthermore, Mathumo said he would focus his attention on his studies until he is released.
