TAFIC courts Zimbwabwean coach

Former Orlando Pirates striker and Zimbabwean international Gilbert Mushangazhike has  been linked to the TAFIC FC coaching  job this  week. This  follows  the unceremonious departure of  Serbian  Draglo ‘Drago’Stanojlovic who  could not  agree to terms with the legendary  Francistown team that  was recently  promoted  to  the BTC  premiership. Mushangazhike  commands  a vast  experience  having  played  for  several South African  teams including  Manning Rangers  and  Mpumalanga  Black  Aces. His  career    includes  stints   in countries  like Swaziland  and  China.

Sources close to TAFIC  said  another  Zimbabwean  candidate  short listed  for  the  job   is former  Sankoyo Bush  Bucks and  Jwaneng Galaxy FC  coach Philane Mabena. “Mushangazhike has always been on TAFIC’s radar for a very long time ad it will not be surprising for him to be roped in as the head coach at the club,” sources  close  to Matjimenyenga said this  week. Speaking  on  the  matter this  week, TAFIC public relations officer Warrant Kolola said  the Serbian  demanded too much from club management.

Kolola added that when they approached Drago they made it clear that they could not afford his high salary demands for now as they went on to reach a compromise deal with the Serbian over his salary package and accommodation. “When we finally agreed with the coach, he arrived in Francistown and we organised him a one bedroomed house as per his requirements and proceeded to draft his contract. After drafting the contract, Drago expected us to increase his salary in three months’ time something we told him we could not afford as three months was not enough on our side.

”The coach agreed to our terms and conditions but insisted on travelling to Gaborone so that some Serbian lawyers could go through his contract and have him sign the contract for the job at the Matjimenyenga club.”“Once Stanjlovic  arrived in Gaborone, he called the club manager Carlos Motaung demanding the club to pay P35 000-00 for his return flight ticket to Serbia together with his wife.” Kolola  said  the  Serbian  alleged   that since the death of his brother some months back, he has never gone home hence his decision to demand a flight ticket from his new club. “Since  we  did not  have  money  for the flight ticket, we advised the coach to fly alone to reduce costs but to no avail.
