Simbarashe cleared to play for Tafic

Tafic Sporting Club Public relations officer Warrant Kolola has told Sun Sport that the international transfer certificate for their new Zimbabwean striker, Simbarashe Sithole, was finalised on Monday.

This paves the way for the striker to start playing for the team. The feared striker is expected to be instrumental in the second round of the Debswana First division league (north) which resumes this weekend.

Speaking to Sun Sport in an exclusive interview, Tafic’s head coach Blessing Moyo said he was happy with the performance of his team during the first round. They finished at the top of the log in the Debswana Northern First Division league ahead of strong title contenders BR Highlanders who shares 26 points with them separated only by goal difference. Moyo said his team needs to be beefed up in the central defence and attacking midfielder to compete with other league title contenders.

“I had sleepless nights to find a striker but my worries were answered by the arrival of Sithole who has been training with the team since three months back. He could not play last season because the window period closed before his papers could be finalised but he has been training with us and I am very impressed with his performance. He is a very good striker who has since fitted in like a glove and he will come handy in guiding the youngsters in every game that we are going to play,” he explained.

He added that his number one goal keeper Chamonoda Madamombe has long picked an injury last season against BR Highlanders and this could disadvantage the team. Moyo is optimistic that his second-choice goal keeper - Abednico Morapedi - will rise to the occasion. Kolola also revealed that they have managed to sign Ogomoditse Baolini from Sankoyo Bushbucks, Mmoloki Kafuku from Sua Flamingos, Uyapo Dekesha from Gilport Lions and Rodney Buka from Orapa United.

Sithole was top goal scorer during the 2014 CHAN games hosted by South Africa when he played for his country Zimbabwe. After the competition he was signed by Ajax Cape town FC in South Africa. Tafic signed him from Highlanders when they got word that he was free to move to Botswana.
