‘My Zaka’ galore at Mascom Top 8

The sponsors of the Mascom Top 8 tournament popularly known as Tse di Tona, Mascom Wireless, might possibly inject close to P 6 million into the season 8 games. According to a detailed expense and prize breakdown received from Mascom Chief Communications & Public Relations Officer Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego this week, all teams that were recently eliminated from the first round of the 2018 Top 8 quarter finals are sure to pocket a cool P50 000 and an additional P10 000 each for appearance fee. This means that by finishing in the top 8 category of the premier league games, a team is rewarded with a P60 000 handsome Mascom cheque. From the semi -finalists announced a fortnight ago, two will each pocket P315 000 prize money plus the appearance fee. The semi-finalists are Township Rollers, Gaborone United, Jwaneng Galaxy and BDF XI. Runners up will pocket P670 000 in total while champions will get a massive P 1.3 million and an additional P 100 000 appearance fee.The teams will take all the money to their accounts as Mascom ensures that it pays for everything, match balls, Team Kits (home and away), the teams travel and hospitality. There are also individual prizes, the biggest bite going towards the player of the tournament at P 50 000. The breakdown further suggests that the organizers of the games being Botswana Premier League (BPL) secretariat have a budget of more than P600 000. Accreditations stand at P50 000, referees fees P95 000 while ticket production will cost about P160 000. Lebotse-Sebego noted that other additional costs go towards brand activation, VIP hospitality and Media Engagement. According to the report, Mascom spent P44 000 on media engagement for the 2017-2018 (season 7) games.
