Motor Centre Tennis Tourney this weekend

Motor Centre Botswana’s annual tennis tournament scheduled for 14-17 July will take place at the Notwane Tennis Courts from 9 am this Saturday. The popular tournament will feature both men and women matches.Anyone from the age of 16 is welcome to compete in the open tournament and registration is open until 12 July for a fee of P300 while spectators will watch for free. The tournament will feature teams from South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zambia, Mozambique, Namibia, Congo, Zimbabwe others who haven’t registered yet. The categories are women and men singles, women and men doubles as well as veteran singles and doubles (40+ years old men and ladies 32+ years old). Top 8 in 18+ years in each category and Veterans top 2 will walk away with prize money, with first place men singles going home with P10 000 and P8000 for women first place singles. In an interview with Sun Sports, the Public Relations and Marketing manager, Shelton Benzah said the two main intentions of this tournament is to give the Botswana tennis players exposure to the best players from all over Africa. The other is for ranking purposes. Categorised into two parts, the seniors and juniors, the former is ongoing this week while the Juniors will take place on the 03 to 05 August 2018. Juniors will have under 10,12,14,16 and 18 years old categories. Benzah thanked Motor Centre Toyota for the more than 27 years’ partnership and urged all tennis enthusiasts to come and support.
