Mafu's future at Magosi yet to be decided
While financial constraints continue to hover around BTC premiership outfit Mochudi Centre Chiefs ahead of the league commencement, headcoach Bongani Mafu’s future with the team is yet to be decided. Mafu, who has been the talk of the town for quite some time now, is said to be greatly aggrieved by the financial state of Magosi Football Club.
So disgruntled is Mafu that he is reported to have sought the intervention of Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) in his pending financial headaches with Magosi. Nevertheless Magosi Spokesperson Clifford Mogomotsi said in an interview yesterday that they were expecting Mafu to be in the country yesterday (Tuesday).
Mogomotsi said they had arranged to have a lengthy discussion with the coach, in an effort to iron out any disparities between them and reach an amicable solution to the matter at hand. However Mogomotsi did not deny that they have not been paying Mafu for quite some time, saying they are currently operating without a sponsor and things are not so rosy at the moment. He also confirmed reports that they will be looking to cut out any allowances or bonuses in order to ensure that they meet their set budget.
“We will present to him what we have to offer, if he refuses nobody can force him, it will be unfortunate but the current situation is impossible,” Mogomotsi said. Meanwhile Mafu is also said to have been humiliated at one point when we was locked out of his rented house because Magosi had failed to pay his rent. “Those allegations are not true, it has never happened that our coach be locked out because we failed to pay his rent,” Mogomotsi denied.
