KWF Botswana competes in Malta, Europe

Two local KaratekasTlotlang Theetso and PanakieThoolebe left for Malta Europe yesterday. They are scheduled to compete at the 2017Karatenomich Federation (KWF) World Cup and Conference on the 30th of September. Before departure, the two athletes Theetso (U60 kg) and Thoolebe (68kg) said they are ready to take on the world in Malta.

Following their impressive performance lately, the athletes said they are aiming to shock their more fancied opponents in the European nation. Theetso recently won gold in individual Kumite and bronze in Kata while Thoolebe settled forsilver after losing to the experienced Lame Hetanang in a local tournament.The duo is from Jwana Karate Academy in Moshupa.

Both athletes train under the watchful eye of Sensei Mompati Mpebe who also happens to be KWF Botswana chairperson.Theetso (20) said he will stop at nothing to ensure that he comes home with a medal. “I am looking forward to giving my best, We have been intensively preparing for the tournament and I feel that I am ready to lock heads with thebest in Malta,” Theetso said. Meanwhile Thoolebe said he would be looking to finish in top three positions.

“I 'm ready, I did not perform to my level best the recently, I allowed my opponents to intimidate me, I will take them head on in Europe,” she confidently said.They are accompanied by Mpebe and Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) president Tshepo Bathai. Bathai is the Chief instructor and also the official KWF representative in Botswana.“ All the four of us will participate in a two day seminar conducted by the world Chief instructor MikioYahara, this will be followed by the world cup on the 30th and 1st of October 2017,” he said.
