Galaxy FC hold award ceremony

The 2016/17 BTC   premiership runners up and Mascom Top 8 winners Jwaneng Galaxy will host their award ceremony on Friday. The club could not host the event earlier as the league and cup awards were also organised a few weeks after the closure of the season. The mine leadership was engaged in other town activities such as 2017 Toyota Desert race, inter mine tournaments, while club leadership had to attend BPL AGM, league and cup awards before hosting.

Galaxy, like their sister club Orapa United surprised everyone by winning top 8 and fought for position two in their first season in the league. The Jwaneng based club made their intentions clear when they were still at the first division south after consolidating all the 4 clubs under the mine. The objective of the ceremony is to encourage and celebrate outstanding achievements among players, staff members and supporters.

The newly appointed Zebras coach David Bright could not ignore Galaxy players for the CHAN game against neighbouring South Africa.  The 2016/17 BPL player of the season nominees Anthony Gouws, Thabo Leinanyane, Thero Setsile and Thabang Sesinyi were called to the Zebras camp. The legendry Boitumelo Mafoko cooped the Mascom top 8 player of the season. The team coach Mike Sithole was also nominated for the BPL coach of the season award. About 300 guests including community leadership, club sponsors and private sector representatives are expected to grace the occasion.
