Footballer Ryder Tshwaane remembered

Raymond ‘Remi – Ryder’ Kegomoditswe Tshwaane was born on the 17th August 1960 in Good Hope. 

He passed away on the 26th September 2017 and was laid to rest on October 1st, 2017.

 Raymond started playing for Notwane junior development Dinoko and later joined the Notwane Football Club from 1978. However due to his constant work commitments and trainings, Raymond quit football. 

He earned the name Ryder as he played the same position as Ryder Mofokeng of Kaizer Chiefs fame and had a similar physical stature. He continued to support his team even years after retiring from football. Raymond was very friendly and made friends and associates where ever he went.In 1979 he joined Engineering Management Services which was part of Murray and Roberts as a Civil Engineering Draughtsman/Technician.

From Engineering Management Services, Raymond joined Stewart Scott and Partners in 1983 to 25 August 2004 where he worked his way up to Chief Draughtsman. Raymond contributed towards the development of Botswana where he covered the width and breadth of the country in his career. 

Some of the projects that he worked on were the Renovation to Hyundai Motor Factory, Extension of Letlhakane Secondary School, Upgrading of Lobatse Mental Hospital (Sbrana), Magistrate Court in Mahalapye, Orapa bus/taxi rank and Sewerage Infrastructure for Orapa Township to name but a few.

Raymond continued to work on his own in different projects even after leaving Stewart Scott and Partners.

He started his schooling at Good Hope Primary School in 1967 before proceeding to Camp Primary School in Gaborone in 1969. He then went to Gaborone Secondary School to do his form 1 to form 5 which he completed in 1978.
