Fans call for Bright's head
The few Zebras’ supporters that graced the weekend game against Leslotho at the national stadium have called for national team coach Major David Bright to be axed. A fan that went to see Major David Bright's charges in action Thatayothe Basalumi said the Association should look for someone who will improve the national team and bring results quickly. "Bright is not a good coach the only thing that got him that coaching seat is his achievement with the Under 23 a few years back, he has failed in the First Division and his tactics are proving to be outdated."
Another fan who was present at the stadium when Bright's men downed Lesotho, 1-0, Molefi Thatayaone Billy indicated that the coach is a counterproductive individual who fails his duties as a coach and should vacate his post. "Personally I feel Bright is not good enough for the national team. Since he took over as the head coach he has never won convincingly. He always claimed he selects players basing on current form but it's plain vivid, some players haven't been playing and they are selected." Molefhi said the game between Lesotho and Botswana has become an anthem game and he is startled by the Zebras performance as he had hoped they would outclass and outshine their opponents.
"We have been playing Lesotho since I was a boy and we are still struggling against them, I thought we have taken a step forward but we are just stuck with our unattractive football of popping balls upfront," he stressed. "We have outstanding and on form players like Dirang Moloi who aren't called to the National team, I think the coach needs to shape up or ship out, we need results the AFCON qualifiers are just around the corner and we can't afford to miss another spectacle." Some did not attend the game at all saying the National team is not worth watching. Vincent Modi believe the National team is a waste of time "BFA needs to take the National team seriously then we will take the team seriously as the fans.
“I can't waste time watching that team while there are better games in the First Division, if this was an important game why didn't the BFA halt all the leagues?" Nonetheless Emmanuel Hero Chikumbuzi had a different view "the coach says that his squad is for the qualifiers, arguably he has put together the best players in the country currently. Although he has opted for untested players like Keagile Kobe and Thatayaone Kgamanyane leaving out peak performers like Motsholetsi Sikele and Maano Ditshupo it is a positive for the youngsters." He said the coach deserves a chance. “The players seem to be comfortable around him, he commands a lot of respect therefore the team displayed discipline, he is a tried and tested coach with a vast knowledge of local football," he cited.
