Crosbie edges closer to his dream
Botswana’s off road motorcycle ace Vincent Crosbie is hanging tight in his quest to finish the epic and treacherous 2016 Dakar Rally.
Following months of thorough preparation and intensive fund raising, Crosbie has not had any major problems or incidents in his quest to become the first Motswana to compete in the Dakar odyssey.
Today the ambitious rider is expected to compete in Stage 9 of the almost 10 000 km across three South American countries including Argentina, Bolivia and Chile.
Stage 9 of the event will see the KTM rider take on some of the best riders in the as the past through the vast landscape of Argentina from Salta to Chilecito. Crosbie finished 42nd overall after stage 5 before the next stage was cancelled due to bad weather.
Crosbie who races as No.103 started Stage 7 in an impressive position 39 on Monday. “Crosbie is more than happy with his support team, his mechanic Scott Spears from Freedom Rally Racing is exceptional as they make sure to keep him scheduled between stages,” said Crosbie’s representative Heinie Van Niekerk this week.
