Butler linked to GU

Fresh  reports  have this  week   linked  former Zebras coach Peter Butler to a shock  move  to BTC  premiership outfit Gaborone United. This  comes  after  Bulter’s  short  lived  spell at  South African PSL  outfit  Platinum Stars. This  week  reports  came in  thick and  fast  that  Butler will  be  returning to local  football as  part  of  GU. The  controversial  and  outspoken  Butler parted  ways  with Dikwena after only two games into the 2017/2018 Absa Premiership. Butler who  divided  opinion  while  at  the  helm  of  Zebras encountered a dreadful run  before  he  was unceremoniosly  frog marched out of  Dikwena camp. Butler who  mercilessly  dumped Zebras a  few  months ago lost  games against Mazitburg United and Cape Town City respectively.

The former Zebras coach is however expected to takeover at Gaborone United as the Technical Director to relaunch his  second stint in Botswana football.  “He is expected to take the position of Technical Director. However  many local  football observers  are  tipping  Butler to  replace Argentine coach  Rudlof Zapata early this  coming season,” a source close to the matter revealed.

The  unconvesional Zapata has recently  been accused of isolating his assistant coach Steven Maposa. Zapata’s  training regume has allegedly  taken a toll  on  his players with Dirang Moloi having been the first to storm out of a mountain climbing training session. The Argentine has been accused of playing an ineffective eleven aside football which does not bare any fruits to the Old Naledi based outfits.

Furthermore, Butler is said to be a very handy associate to GU’s prime investor Nicolas Zakhem having been suspected of influencing Zakhem to lure players such as Kabelo Seakanyeng, Thato Ogopotse, Moatlhodi Ralesotla and Hendrick Moyo to Moyagolele.

In an interview with BG Sport  this week GU Secretary Lepholetha City Senne denounced the  allegations  as  just hear say. “This is news to my ears, I believe it is nothing but rumors because we haven’ t had any dealings with Butler,” Senne  said.

Senne said they have been busy oiling the Money machine for the upcoming BTC Premership season. “We have been busy preparing the team but I don’t believe we could have missed such big news, we have currently assembled an a formidable team and we are looking to out perform our rivals.”
