BAA competes in Commonwealth and World Champs

Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) is expected to send two separate teams to the Youth World championships in Kenya and the Commonwealth youth games in the Bahamas. The Commonwealth Youth Games are scheduled for 18-23 July 2017 in Nassau, Bahamas. The team is expected to depart for Bahamas on 15th July 2017.

The youth world championship scheduled for Nairobi, will start on 12th until 16th July. The athletes who form part of the team that impressed at the local BISA competitions and Confederation of School Sport Associations of Southern Africa in Zimbabwe recently.

The Nassau, Bahamas bound team includes Oarabile Tshosa (100 and 200m), Rose Senane (200m) and mixed relay, Tlhompang Basele (400m) and mixed relay, Naledi Lopang (400m) and mixed relay, Olesitse Benard (400m), Mothusi Boitshwarelo (200m), Phodiso Rampa (200m) and Omphile Ntaolang 400m and mixed relay.

The team will be led by Meriam Mokgadi from Goodhope Senior as manager and Kago Tladinyane from Kumakwane as coach. The Kenya bound team will compete mainly in mixed relay races. The team is made of Sokologang Mokgotlwane from Maun Senior, Thuto Masasa from Lotsane Senior, Oratile Nowe Swaneng Hill School, Kealeboga Balemogi and Bafedile Gasebatho both from McConnell College in Tutume. The technical team is led by Coach Chilume Ntshwarang and manager Mompati Ngwako. The send-off ceremony for both teams will be held in Gaborone this Sunday.
