Woman dies, rises again in church

Kanye woman, Hilda Modikwe could not stop crying last Sunday before the church when she narrated how her prophet resurrected her from the dead. According to the mother of three, Prophet Keletso Moenda of Be Free Christian Church in Gaborone was sent by God to deliver her and her family from the spirit of death that was tormenting them. She testified that when she came to church on August 13, the prophet picked her and told her that there are unending cases of death in her family, which she confirmed to be true. He also told her that she had a heart condition, which she also said was true.

She states that the man of God said she was going to have a mild stroke. “He said I was next on the line to die in my family, and said however, that it is well and that the Lord will not allow it to happen,” she says. During the three weeks, she said she was unsettled and had sleepless nights as she was worried about her children. “I was already thinking about dividing my properties among them and other things,” she said. When she went to see the doctor, she says, the doctor told her the other side of her heart was not functioning well, which she states confirmed what the prophet had told her.

As she pointed at her left eye that was swelling, she said it was a sign that she was going to have a mild stroke as she could feel the other signs. “My heart was pumping fast and it felt like it was going to stop functioning altogether,” she says. She adds that she had been using the anointed Water of Promise from church. Death and resurrection in church Speaking to The Midweek Sun, Prophet Moenda says when Modikwe came to church, he could see the spirit of death and he told her about it.

“She confirmed it and said other men of God have told her about it before,” he says, adding that the woman had suffered mild stroke. He would then pray for her. Now when she came to church the following Sunday, the prophet says he saw her dying in front of him and the church. “Right in my eyes, she died. In front of believers and non-believers. I know satan wanted to disgrace me to test whether I’m a true man of God,” he states, recalling that he was preaching on Prophets are God-directed, covered and forgiven, as his message.

“As I was preaching, I saw her collapse. She was motionless and I saw her brother and daughter crying uncontrollably. None of her body parts was functioning and her tongue had come out,” he says. The prophet says the spirit of the Lord led him to her and he saw that the woman was dead. But how did he know that she was dead? “I don’t need to be a doctor to know that. I was directed by the spirit of the Lord as his prophet,” he explains, citing John 14:12, Philippians 4:13 and John 11 to show the power that Christians have. He says that as he sprinkled her with the Water of Promise, water started coming out of her mouth. He says it was the first time his faith in God got to be tested like that.

“I started to raise my hands to the heavens and prayed resurrection scriptures,” he says, adding that it took him close to 30 minutes. Meanwhile, Modikwe’s brother wanted to take her to the hospital as he had lost hope. The whole church was crying. Prophet says Modikwe then rose up, rolled up on the floor and the whole church started glorifying God and giving him thanks. According to Moenda, it was God who rose Modikwe from death. “I’m just a vessel, the glory belongs to God. Victory belongs to him,” he says.A church member says the incident strengthened their faith in God.

“With God, all things are possible,” he says. The church media team has recorded video of the incident. From a traffic officer to prophet Narrating how God called him, 34 year-old Moenda from Ramotswa says he worked as a traffic officer for eight years and he was based in Borakanelo Police Station. Though his mother says there were miraculous circumstances surrounding his birth like other prophets, he says he understood his calling from 2013 and registered the church. “From primary school levels, I used to see myself fighting spiritual animals and defeating them,” he says.

He explains that he grew up as an isolated and quiet child. In 2013, he attended Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s crusade in Gaborone and he prophesied about his calling as a prophet. The following year he visited Prophet T.B. Joshua’s church in Nigeria. Prior to starting a church, he was a member of a local Zion Christian Church. He is married with two children.
