SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT STABBED TO DEATH
A 17-year-old schoolboy was killed earlier this week following an altercation with another student.
The incident occurred on 18th August during morning studies at Mokgalo Junior Secondary School in the Central district village of Lecheng. The deceased is believed to have had a misunderstanding over name calling with a 15-year-old student before a fight ensued.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Education and Skills Development, the 15 years old student used a sharp object to kill the other boy. “The incident was reported to the Regional Officer in Serowe as well as the police.
The suspect student is now in police custody while the investigations are on going. The Regional office has put up a team to go and counsel both the students and the teachers as they are emotionally affected by this incident,” the statement reads.
Moreover, the parents of both boys were informed immediately by the Central Regional Office through the Chief Education Officer in Palapye. The deceased is currently at mortuary in Palapye.
Meanwhile in a separate incident two teachers from Kutamogoree Primary School were killed in a road accident on 18th August.
Current reports are that, the two officers were travelling from Francistown last on Thursday night when they ran over a dead donkey on the road and the driver lost control of the vehicle, which eventually hit and killed all the three passengers.
The names of the deceased are still withheld until their next of kin are informed.
