Saleshando warns Batswana against Masisi's presidency

Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) Vice President Dumelang Saleshando says Batswana should not expect any positive change in their lives when Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi becomes the president of the country. Saleshando, who is also President of Botswana Congress Party, says it is time for Batswana to effect change in 2019 by voting into power UDC.

He said the education sector has suffered under the leadership of Masisi as Minister of Education and Skills Development. He indicated that Masisi has a poor track record when it comes to leadership. Saleshando, who was speaking during a UDC star rally in Molepolole, also accused Masisi of failing the public service during his time as Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration.

“Our President Advocate Duma Boko will do much better to transform this nation. We need change administration because Masisi is inheriting the same corrupt and failed administration that he has been part of. Masisi’s track speaks for itself,” said Saleshando. The BCP leader stated that Batswana should give the UDC a chance to lead the country. He said with the coming in of Masisi it would just be a change of faces.

Saleshando told the multitudes that gathered at Borakalalo Ward in Molepolole North that currently Masisi is failing to deal with poverty eradication and unemployment. “The current programmes and policies of Botswana Democratic Party led government are not helping the situation. When we present Advocate Boko in 2019 to you know that we are presenting someone we trust would liberate you. UDC is the only alternative Batswana have right now.

“Masisi when he goes to Office of the President would spend time to appease those who have supported him financially during his leadership campaign for the BDP chairmanship,” said Saleshando urging the public to disregard the negative publicity that has been directed at Advocate Boko. He said he trusts the UDC president and during negotiations between UDC and BCP he was satisfied that Advocate Boko is the right president for the country. This was the first UDC star rally since the joining of the coalition by BCP early this year.
