Relative turns state witness against Moalosi in Sebina hacking saga
The controversial Sebina hacking case recently took a controversial twist when close friend and relative of the accused was roped in as a State witness.
Botswana Congress Party (BCP) politician Motlhaleemang Moalosi is being investigated for allegedly hacking into Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development Fedelis Molao’s Facebook account and fabricating a conversation which went viral.
The Midweek Sun has established that a close family member who spilled the beans after the two concerned families got embroiled in a bitter argument has decided to give evidence against his cousin. When queried on the new developments in the case, Investigating Officer Detective Senior Superintendent Sergeant Marapo could neither confirm nor deny the allegations.
He said investigations are still underway and it would be suicidal to reveal any more information before referring this reporter to Botswana Police Public Relations Unit. The Assistant Commissioner of Police who is also the Police spokesperson could not deny or confirm the incident as he said that all state witnesses in the case would be known by the public during the trial of the case.
“Even if we are aware of any state witnesses currently, it will be very unprofessional for us to reveal their names before the case can be brought before a magistrate for trial. In the meantime, police investigations are still ongoing and the case has been handed over to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions,” he said.
