OLD MUTUAL BOTSWANA DONATES TO BOTSWANA NURSES’ UNION

Group CEO of Old Mutual Botswana, Gerald Randall handed over a donation of 13,000 surgical masks to the Botswana Nurses Union (BONU) during an official handover ceremony held at their head office in Gaborone on Monday. Dignitaries in attendance included the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr. Lemogang Kwape, and The President of BONU, Mr. Obonolo Rahube, and senior officials from their institutions.

Before handing over the PPE to BONU Gerald Randall said, “We recognise the wonderful work that the Botswana Nurses Association has done over the years for frontline workers. As we have seen across the world, healthcare workers are the true heroes of the fight against Covid-19. We know that during a pandemic nurses and other medical professionals are charged with carrying the biggest burden and many times at their own personal sacrifice”. In his acceptance the President of BONU expressed his deep gratitude for the donation and his hopes for future collaborations with Old Mutual.

Also speaking at the event, Honourable Dr. Lemogang Kwape said, “We remain indebted to you because Government on its own cannot manage”. He went on to say that the donation is opportune since the country needs PPE even more now to protect the front-line service providers as they fight the scourge.

In his closing remarks, the Board Chairperson of Old Mutual Short Term Insurance, Mr. Sipho Showa assured attendees of Old Mutuals’ commitment and support to the fight to curb and defeat Covid-19.
