Motswana shot 11 times in South Africa

Reports making rounds allege that Botswana born Mpho Modimakwane (42) was shot 11 times at an unconfirmed farm in South Africa last week. Modimakwane is alleged to have been shot in the hip by his employer, a white man. He was also hit with the butt of a gun on the head. Reports from South African media suggest that the white man shot Modimakwane in self-defence because Modimakwane was threatening to kill both the white man and his son. Moreover, Modimakwane is reported to have also threatened to kill one of his colleagues at the farm a day before the alleged shooting incident.

Meanwhile the South Africans took to social media to vent out their frustrations, saying they are tired of being oppressed by whites in their country. Certain individuals in SA claim that they know the white boss on a personal basis and they defined him as very arrogant and not so friendly person. They say he is capable of killing and covering his tracks.“I once worked for that man, I do not believe he was provoked in anyway, he is very short tempered, he is an opportunist and exploits the vulnerable,” claimed one social media user.

Some argued that as blacks, they are not respected and looked down upon in South Africa; they called for justice to take its course and for the matter to be thoroughly investigated. Locally, Batswana have also expressed great shock at the news saying the act was barbaric and inhuman. Modimakwane hails from Mochudi in the Kgatleng district. However, at the time of going to press, nobody had identified him despite all his pictures that have been circulating on Social Media platforms. Assistant Commissioner of Botswana Police, Dipheko Motube said he was not in a position to give any details about the shooting saying, the case was never reported to them. Motube said the South African Police were better placed to discuss the matter in detail.
