Molokomme appointed Botswana's Ambassador to Brussels

President Lt. Gen. Dr Ian Khama has appointed former Attorney General, Dr Athalia Molokomme as Botswana’s ambassador to Brussels and redeployed other two, The Midweek Sun has reliably learnt.
Molokomme’s appointment to Brussels ends speculation that she will replace Jacob Nkate in Tokyo, Japan, whose term came to an end late last year, coinciding with Molokomme’s retirement. Molokomme’s educational qualifications and professional background will come in handy for the new position as the office deals with human rights issues and international laws.
She has a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Botswana and Swaziland and a Masters in Law from Yale Law School, USA. She studied for a PhD in Law at Leiden University, the Netherlands, graduating in 1991.
She is an academic who taught law at the University of Botswana and has researched and published extensively in the fields of family law, women and law, customary law and employment law. She is also a founding member of several organisations including Emang Basadi, Women and Law in Southern Africa (WLSA), and Women, Law and Development International (WLDI).
Meanwhile, seasoned career diplomat - Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations, Nkoloi Nkoloi has been elevated and will replace Jacob Nkate in Japan while Brussels-based Ambassador Mothusi Bruce Rapalai has been redeployed to China following the retirement of Sasara George.
