Missing pastor found dead inside toilet
The decomposed body of Pastor Phenyo Mokgaimena was found inside a pit-latrine this past Sunday not far from his rented house in Molepolole.
Mokgaimena was a young pastor below 35, married with a daughter. He was pastoring Lutheran church, the church which had sent him to study Theology in South Africa. His body was found inside Christ The Word of God church toilet. When The Midweek Sun team arrived at the Lutheran church premises on Monday morning, workers at the nursery school revealed that he was buried on Monday morning.
“His body was in a bad state. He could not be recognised,” said an elderly woman. His brother, who met The Sun team confirmed the news too and said however that the deceased did not leave a note.
Girlfriend admitted at hospital
What remains sensitive though, according to our sources is that Mokgaimena was in an open affair with another woman, something that strained his marriage. The Mokgaimena family in Molepolole did not want to be interviewed, except for revealing that they reported their son missing on September 25 to police.
It is said that Mokgaimena’s mistress wanted out of the affair but he was having none of it. He could not take it. “He stabbed her with a knife several times all over her body and went on and hanged himself at another church, thinking she was dead,” said the source, revealing that the pastor was stuck on his mistress. “He loved her so much and didn’t hide it from anyone,” added the source.
‘Pastors are human too’
At Christ the Word of God church, Pastor Modisa Raditaolana and two church members were found cleaning the toilet. He revealed that they were called by people from another church which is located behind theirs, about a decomposed body at his church. He said that they knew Mokgaimena and that he was related to some of the church members. Pastor Raditaolana said the incident showed that men of God are not immune to sin. “Pastors face trials, they get tempted too and aren’t perfect,” he said.
Church member Glorious Radithamako emphasised that Makgaimana was a kind, likeable and humble man. “I think it was hard for him considering that he was married and also a pastor. He knew the society was going to judge him harshly,” she said. Mokgaimena’s friends further described him as a God-fearing man who preached undiluted gospel of Christ.
