Mascom boosts Tafic vs. Highlanders

Mascom Wireless will   sponsor   the mouth watering game   between Zimbabwean premier league giants Highlanders FC   and TAFIC at the tune of P106 000. The game scheduled for the Francistown Sports Complex this Saturday will be   part of the city’s 120 years celebrations.

Speaking during the sponsorship launch this week, Mascom Public Relations officer Tebogo Lebotse Sebego said   the mobile service provider has not sponsored major events in Botswana’s second city lately and   this has been a major concern since   they have   sponsored events in other parts of the country. According to Lebotse Sebego, it was only right to sponsor such an event as they have opened their first shop along the Haskins Street 20 years back before they relocated to Galo mall.

“Due to the above factor, we decided as a company to find how we can partner with the city of Francistown and we finally decided to sponsor their major game, which is between TAFIC and Highlanders. It should be noted that we have sponsored various events around the country including the Premier league, which we once sponsored in 2005 before we shifted focus to the Mascom Top 8, a football tournament,” Lebotse Sebego said.

Apart from the Mascom Top 8 tournament, Mascom sponsors the hugely popular annual Maun horse race as one way of giving to the community and communicating with their customers at an individual level. As if that is not enough, she disclosed that they have been sponsoring the 1000 km Toyota Desert Race, popularly known as the Mantshwabisi by locals since 2006 as well as the annual Mmadinare Marathon as well as the Gaborone Mayor’s marathon

.“The P106 000-00 sponsorship towards the football game will go a long way in marketing Mascom as a brand that supports the communities they are doing business at. We do not only sponsor football alone as we have sponsored other sporting codes including chess, volleyball and boxing through Fox TV partnership. Moreover, we are also involved with the arts as well as helping people living with disabilities. In a nut shell sports plays a vital role to us as we use it to interact with our customers as well as giving back to them through various initiatives.”
