March inflation up
The annual inflation rate in March 2017 was 3.5 percent, an increase of 0.1 of a percentage point on the February 2017 rate of 3.4 percent, Statistics Botswana has said. According to a statement from the Annah Majelantle organisation, inflation rates for regions between February 2017 and March 2017 showed that rural Villages went up to 4.2 percent from 3.8 percent, cities and towns increased to 3.6 percent from 3.5 percent, and Urban Villages’ increased to 3.0 percent from 2.9 percent. The national Consumer Price Index (CPI) moved from 101.2 in February 2017 to 101.7 in March 2017, which is an increase of 0.5 percent. During the period underdiscussion, the indices for cities and towns, urban and rural villages rose by 0.5 percent each.
