MAFITLHAKGOSI BENEFIT FROM CHINESE CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM
The Director of the Chinese Charity Association in Botswana, Tiantian Guo says that Botswana and China continue to enjoy good cordial relations.
Guo who referred to Botswana as her second home was speaking during her farewell ceremony in Gaborone this past weekend. The farewell ceremony included popular dance youth group Mafitlhakgosi Traditional troupe.
The Chinese emissary said her organisation enjoyed working with the traditional dance group that originates in the Old Naledi location of Gaborone. Mafitlhakgosi and worked with the group. “The two groups had a deep friendship in which we took advantage of a cultural exchange through dance,” she said.
“The celebration on Saturday proved that indeed Botswana and China have been good friends for a long time and aspire to exchange culture in every way.” The partnership between the two parties did not only end with the BOTS 50 Callisthenics, but Guo and Mafitlhakgosi are expected to continue the legacy they have built.
The Chinese responded so well to Setswana traditional dance while some Mafitlhakgosi members benefitted from lessons in ballet dance. “In a brief interview Mafitlhakgosi coordinator Joseph Ikopeng said it is their wish to teach foreigners traditional dance in order to sell Botswana culture internationally.
