Machaneng residents welcome ESP

Residents of Machaneng Village in Tswapong have praised the Economic Stimulus Programme that was launched in their village by President Dr. Ian Khama this past Saturday.

As part of the launch Dr. Khama also commissioned the construction of 25 houses for public servants in the village. Residents were over the moon to have the stimulus programme officially launched in their village.

Diketso Mokhubami said the programme has created employment for their children so they’d not need to go looking for jobs outside. Sikalame Wetshootsile said he never thought he’d witness the historic launch in his lifetime and expressed hope that it’d create jobs for the youth.

Baliki Spotho shared the same sentiments, adding it’d also keep youth away from crime. Ditshoto Pelonte said ESP would raise the stature of their village. “We hope that as famers some of us will also benefit greatly in the agricultural sector, which is one of the key areas that are being targeted,” he said.

ESP is a response to the current unfavourable economic climate following the world economic recession, which started in 2008.
