Khama to inherit Masire's state mansion

President Ian Khama will after his retirement next year, live in the house that was used by the late second President Sir Ketumile Masire, government has announced.

President Khama was expected to be built a new house at the tune of P34 million. This comes after Parliament passed Pensions and Retirement package in which President Khama was entitled to an official residence and office space provided by the state.

According to the press release issued by Office of President, this will save government the expense of constructing a new facility. Under the Pensions and Retirement Benefits Bill, Khama has the luxury to choose where he wants to have his retirement home built when he retires, allows him to get employment if he so wishes, and to use a helicopter or a boat when he travels in areas that are not accessible by a motor vehicle. The Bill which has been amended on several occasions was published on 12th December 2016.
