‘I left one church after the pastor took my girlfriend

A well-known music personality in Botswana, his identity concealed for now to protect those implicated in what borders on criminality, also spoke to this reporter through WhatsApp voice notes, and revealed how his marriage plans failed because of his church pastor he later discovered to have been chowing his fiancé. In his submission to The Midweek Sun, he said he also felt the urge to attest to the fact that many Omotoso-like-pastors there were in Botswana.He reveals that he was supposed to marry the mother of his child, until a pastor of his church came into the picture and caused confusion. He tells The Midweek Sun that at the said church, children were molested and that leadership always swept things under the carpet. “The church was chaotic and even after taking my girlfriend, the pastor also pursued my brother’s girlfriend. I was one of those hated for condemning his behaviour, until I left,” he said. He recently had a meeting with one of the young women from the church who says she also left after the pastor allegedly exploited her sexually. He says that his brother was kicked out of the church for speaking out and that he was called ‘setsenwa’ and a divisive spirit that wanted to destroy the church. He says that the pastor also had children with various women in the church, that the leaders and pastors misused church money and did not want to be held accountable. “Some men in God these days don’t want to be questioned, churches are their businesses and they tend to forget that we are not fools. They choose their own executive committee members without being questioned. We are educated. “They sleep with young girls and want us to keep quiet, but we are educated. I was abused emotionally just for speaking out. We did fundraising concerts and when we inquired about money made from the events they would rebuke us and tell us to stop being rebellious. They are bigger than God,” he says. He left the church this year.
