I adore Ndaba and will quickly accept him back into the BMD – Modubule

Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) national chairman Nehemiah Modubule has told The Midweek Sun that the only circumstance he can call a truce with expelled former President of BMD Gaolatlhe Ndaba, his vice Wynter Mmolotsi and others is when they reapply to join BMD. But he was quick to point out that this is his personal stance, adding that he was full of admiration and adoration for Ndaba’s leadership acumen.

Modubule added however that their main gripe with Ndaba is that he loves to trample the constitution unnecessarily. “I have never had any ill-feelings towards both Mmolotsi (Wynter) and Ndaba but they should learn to respect the party constitution. Off the issue at hand I have never differed with them until they disregarded the party constitution,” he said. When quizzed under which circumstances he can smoke the peace pipe with the expelled BMD members, he pointed out that the expelled members should reapply to attain BMD membership cards.

“The constitution clearly stipulates that once a member has been expelled from the party they should reapply at a ward they reside at for their membership reapplication to be scrutinised,” Modubule said. He continued that they won’t hesitate to give expelled members membership cards within the blink of an eye nor sabotage them not to get such.

As for the National Executive Committee (NEC) of BMD, Modubule explained that it will remain unchanged since it was elected by a constitutional National Congress of the party at Matshekge in Bobonong. Modubule’s sentiments follow hard on recent reports that the Ndaba-led BMD faction has developed cold feet to table their grievances before a court of law as they are scared to be embarrassed by the Sydney Pilane-led faction which seems to be clinging to the party constitution dearly.

Ndaba is alleged to have found undying love in Botswana Peoples Party’s (BPP) Motlatsi Molapisi and the two lovebirds are on the brink of forming a new political movement, something they have both tried to downplay. Molapisi recently informed The Midweek Sun that his party is giving Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) two weeks to have taken a resolution failing which BPP will make their position known concerning the current BMD factions at war. Efforts to reach the other faction’s Secretary General Phenyo Butale for a comment hit a snag at press time as his mobile rang unanswered.
