Enough is enough

A certain group of men and women dubbed #Ishallnotforget have requested society at large to come together as ‘Women and men against all sexual abuse of children’.

According to Public Relations Officer of I shall not forget, Tumie Mohoasa, they were provoked by the Sebina defilement saga to come out and loudly declare that ‘enough is enough’!

Mohoasa noted that their mission is to tackle cases of defilement, incest and rape among innocent children. She called on parents, systems and government to not let such issues vanish into thin air but allow the law to take its course. “We are not going to rest until something is done with these issues, because they have always existed but we always see the perpetrators walking freely, which is why we have decided to say I shall not forget until, something has been done,”she said.

Mohoasa further said that the main purpose of their existence is to give support to all the children who have been sexually abused and to make sure that none of the social ills are hidden, but are exposed to build a healthy, united and loving nation. She requested all locals to support them in this initiative and clarified that they are not a political entity like some people are already saying. “Some people believe that we are a political entity with some sort of political motive. I would like to clear this misconception and assure you that we are just ordinary people crying for justice and protection of children,” said Mohoasa.

She said that all they wish for is to see all offenders relieved from their duties until they are cleared of the claims of their actions. "I shall not forget plans to send a team to travel to Sebina to find out about the defilement implicating a councillor.

Thereafter they will travel the length and breadth of the country to find out the condition and welfare of children regarding sexual abuse." Mohoasa said there is much fear in children, as some do not understand what is going on, and end up not reporting cases of abuse.“We are here to ensure that offenders pay for their appalling actions,” she said. I shall not forget will go on a march on Saturday in Gaborone as a way of saying ‘enough is enough’ regardinng sexual abuse in children. Members of the public are invited to this march, and the dress code will be white t-shirts and a blue ribbon that signifies ‘no sexual abuse’.
