CONFESSIONS OF A GAY pastor
Prophet Duncan Katse, who leads a popular church in Gaborone called Epistles of Power International is in Nigeria to meet Prophet T.B.Joshua over ‘the spirit of homosexuality’ that has been tormenting him since childhood.
The 25-year old man is married with a son. Speaking to The Midweek Sun this week to share his experience, his take is that homosexuality is a spirit and that people can be delivered from it.
He shared a 36-second long video that was aired on the Synagogue Church of All Nations tv channel, Emmanuel Tv, last Sunday where prophet Joshua calls him out from the multitudes during the service.
In the clip, T. B. Joshua says to him ‘You were raised by a single parent. You don’t have a father. This has affected you. There is a situation where you have started feeling attracted to men. Man to man. Instead of having affection for a lady, you are having it for a man like you. So this is the challenge you are facing now. Spirit of man.’
In response, Katse confirms everything to be true. He told this publication that he is ready to come out about his past struggle with homosexuality. “I want my deliverance to help someone. I’m willing to talk about it. From childhood, I have been a bisexual until my teenage stage, and then it stopped no wonder I managed to get married,” he said. Bisexuals are attracted to both men and women.
Asked how he managed to let it go before he got married, he said that he just ignored it. But wasn’t the marriage affected? He says he was struggling but that it is his nature not to give in to struggle.
“My wife married me knowing every weakness I had. I am delivered from that spirit,” he said. He admitted to dating men before he got born again in 2012. Advising other men of the cloth that may be harbouring homosexuality, Katse said that they should be delivered.
“Don’t give in to something that doesn’t truly define you. Let nature take its course. I am not better than those that are still going through this. Yield to God to help you,” he said.
‘Prominent man after me’
Katse says that there is a prominent figure that is gay and is after him. He refused to mention his names. He said that there were gay men that have a tendency of visiting his church while they are targeting him. “They masquerade as kingdom financiers but later show their true colours. They are not church members,” he said.
Who is Prophet Katse?
He was a rebellious young man like any other teenager when growing up. He did not know that he would one day lead a church with over 150 members, let alone have elderly people call him ‘Papa.’ “I was a naughty boy, into drinking and partying. But I’m now God’s vessel,” he said in a previous interview. Narrating how he became a ‘prophet,’ Katse said that his mother went to Nigeria and brought popular T.B. Joshua’s anointing water.
“I was a wild teenager then. She sprinkled me with the anointing water and that was the beginning,” he said. He knew he had a calling while at secondary school. Then he was a leader of Scripture Union at school. At Form 4, he was already a pastor at a local church. “That’s when I got to have the experience and knowledge of God. Along the way I was mentored by other men of God,” he said.
He had an encounter when he was 2. Katse had a dream whereby Jesus appeared to him riding a white horse with the words: From now on, you shall liberate my people. You shall be the rider of the white horse.
He would then start his church in Oodi. He describes it as a prophetic church that also teaches prosperity and deliverance. He also uses anointing water at his church and says that church members always testify of its impact. “One couple recently caught a witch inside their yard after sprinkling the anointing water. The wife had wanted to call the police thinking they were attacked by thieves. Upon going outside, they found a man stuck outside,” he said.
According to the ‘prophet,’ the prophetic ministry is still new in Botswana hence Batswana do not understand the prophets and that they are used by God as his mediums of communication between him and his people. “Our people are used to believing sangomas and traditional doctors and any rising prophet is associated with buying powers to enrich his church,” he said. He said then that the problem with people accepting young prophets is because there are older men of God who do not want to pass on the baton.
“Before Jesus, there was John and before Joshua, there was Moses. Greed is wrong,” he said, encouraging prophets to stick to their calling and allow God to lift them. Other than T.B. Joshua, Katse also looks up to the likes of Uebert Angel, Edd Branson, and Shepherd Bushiri who are also famous prophets internationally. Katse believes he has a prophetic voice for nations and that God usually shows him events and disasters before they happen.
Citing examples, he said God had long showed him the Botswana Defence Force plane crash that happened in 2017. God had also shown him how former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe was going to be removed from power.
